Registration

Should you need to cancel your registration, you may reassign your registration to another person. Please notify the Symposium Manager Rachel Cook rachel@conference.nz in writing. If you are unable to arrange a replacement, a full refund less an administration charge of $150.00 will be made providing notification is received by Friday 1 February 2019. After this date, refunds will be at the discretion of the organisers. If, for reasons beyond the control of the organisers, the conference is cancelled, then the registration fee will be refunded after deduction of expenses already incurred.
There are no session only registration options available for the Symposium. We do however have one-day registration available for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
If your partner or guest would like to attend symposium sessions, they will need to register for the whole event or for the days they wish to attend. You can also purchase tickets for partners and guests to attend only the social functions such as the welcome reception, gala dinner and mid-week optional activities. Tickets for these events can be purchased as part of your registration process or you can modify your registration to include them at a later date.

The Symposium is open to the following ACEM and Non-ACEM Fellows, ACEM and Non-ACEM Trainees, Non-specialist Doctors, Retired Fellows, ACEM EMC/D Candidates, Certificants and Diplomates, Medical Students*, Nurses, Paramedics, Allied Health, Medical professionals from developing nations (as per ACEM approved list), and FACEM humanitarian workers who have an 'Exempt' or 'Concession' membership status.

Medical Students*
A Medical student is defined as a holder of a student identification card from a recognised tertiary or secondary educational institution or a holder of an international student card. Students must be studying full time to qualify for the discounted rate. A copy of your student identification card must be sent to the Symposium Coordinator amelia@conference.nz. Without this copy, the full registration fee will be charged.

At ACEM Winter Symposium

The symposium runs for three days, from Wednesday 1 – Friday 3 May 2019. There will be a full day of workshops on Tuesday 30 April 2019.

The opening hours for the symposium and exhibition are below: 

  • Wednesday 1 May 0700 - 1700 
  • Thursday 2 May 0700 - 1700 
  • Friday 3 May 0830 - 1400
On arrival to the Millennium Hotel Rotorua, please enter through the main doors and make your way to the registration desk, which is located in the lobby. The Symposium organisers will be at the registration desk to help you with directions around the venue.
The dress code during the symposium is business attire. For the social functions please click here to view the dress code.
When you register for the Symposium there is a question asking for any dietary requirements. This relates to specific requirements such as gluten free, vegetarian, lactose intolerance and allergies. Please list your requirements in this section. At the Symposium, the dietary specifications of each food item on general buffets and/or food stations will be listed. For any requirements that are not covered by the selections available for all delegates, there will be separate station where your meals will be available. The catering staff and symposium staff will be on hand to help direct you. Please note that individual food preferences cannot be accommodated.

Programme and Speakers

Keynote speakers: Tim Parke is an Emergency Physician from Glasgow and formerly Director of Auckland City Hospital ED.  

Jan Bone is an Emergency Physician from Christchurch who responded to the extra-ordinary challenge of a major earthquake and is a strong advocate for resilience in emergency medicine. For more information visit the website Speakers page.

We ask that speakers register at the registration desk located on the ground floor of the Millennium Hotel Rotorua upon arrival. You will then be directed to the Symposium speaker preparation room. Here you will be supported by an audio visual team member to ensure your presentation is loaded and ready for your session.

The CPD Category Group Learning covers activities that are undertaken with the aim of contributing continued professional development, within an individual, workplace or wider context.  This activity will be recorded to your CPD Online record on your behalf as a member benefit. For those attending pre-conference workshops on Tuesday 29 April, these have been accredited for additional CPD hours.

ACEM Winter Symposium is being held at the Millennium Hotel, Rotorua. The address is 1270 Hinemaru St, Rotorua 3040.
Millennium Hotel has plenty of free off-street car parking available.
