Dr Eduardo Mahn
Sponsored by

Fee: $395 incl GST includes arrival refreshments, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea
There is a limit of 25 places and these will be allocated on a first in basis.

The course will discuss the basic background for the appropriate indication and placement of anterior and posterior direct restorations. Aspects like survival rate, preparation principles, indications and limitations of the direct technique will be discussed based on an evidence based approach. Classical proven techniques will be shown in contrast with new revolutionary materials and techniques. New materials like silorane based, low shrinkage composites, bulk-fill flowables and universal bulk-fill composites combined with the latest improvements in light curing will be presented. The true aesthetic potential of anterior composites will be critically discussed and several clinical tips for enhancing the final result will also be given. The theoretical section will be followed by a hands-on section. Placement of a class II composite filling with a bulk-fill material will be done during the morning session and an aesthetic class III and IV filling will be done during the afternoon session.

At the end of the program, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the differences between each type of composite we currently have
  • Understand the latest improvements in material science and the treatment possibilities they are opening
  • Perform a class II restoration with state of the art materials
  • Use novel matrix systems in the posterior region and understand the advantages and limitations of bulk fill composites
  • Understand the value shade concept vs the classic A-D concept in anterior direct restorations
  • Perform a class IV restoration based on the polychromatic approach
